Shot in Eureka, CA on a siding. These locomotives and boxcars have obviously not been used in years; they attracted taggers, animals, and homeless people; you can see their signs all over the re-purposed machines. Seeing the decay makes you wonder about the lives of those who come here, as well as the lives of the machines themselves, what it was like when they were new, were familiar companions, were put out to pasture.

The dull overcast lighting adds an additional air of despair, decay, and ennui.

The soft lighting and deeply shadowed interior of the locomotives' mechanical compartments add to the feeling of dankness, decay, and neglect. A centrifugal pump of some sort, some diesel fuel filters, a high-pressure water (?) vessel; technology from two centuries mixed into one machine
