Description

This is a shot of the F15 Eagle parked in front of the National Warplane Museum in Elmira, NY. They have a wide variety of aircraft of all kinds, exhibits on various wars, and even a flying B17 bomber from WW II. More wide-angle goodness. Wish the light had been a little less flat.

Actually, this is an F-15 Eagle, not an F-14 Tomcat. The Tomcat has wings that fold back to give an overall delta shape to the aircraft when in storage or in high-speed flight, while the F-15's wings are triangular and don't move. The two aircraft are slightly similar, both having twin engines and tailfins and somewhat similarly shaped intakes, but are distinctly different when seen together. This is an excellent shot, and must have been a bit tricky to get right from such a low angle and close range, given how big the F-15 is.
